THE PLANNING & ZONING COMMISSION, Town of Hamden, will hold a Public Hearing & Special Meeting on Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. in the Legislative Council Chambers, Memorial Town Hall, 2372 Whitney Avenue, Hamden, CT.
There are two issues on the P&Z agenda of which you should be aware. They affect many areas of Hamden, including Spring Glen. The first item (second on the official agenda) refers to changing the zoning requirements for a large swath of property from James St. (near Washington Ave. Medical offices) to the Rt 10 connector. The applicant is proposing removing the restriction of retail business of less than or equal to 1500 s.f. for this T3 area. In the second item (third on the official agenda), the applicant is proposing adding a new section to the zoning regulations that would allow spas and wellness retreat (overnight) facilities. If the regulation is passed, it is expected to affect R4 as well as other zones. Since Spring Glen is primarily zoned R4, approval of this amendment to the zoning regulations might mean that a neighbor could develop a spa/wellness retreat facility on residential zoned property.
