The Hamden Police Department is proud to announce the 3rd session of the “Citizens Police Academy.” The purpose of this endeavor is to provide local residents, business/property owners and college students with pertinent information as it relates to the function and activities of the Hamden Police Department. The goal of this program is to increase public awareness and build community rapport through education. In return, the Hamden Police Department will benefit by becoming more aware of the concerns of the community. The Hamden Citizens Police Academy will cover a vast array of topics, including: patrol procedures, criminal investigations, crime scene techniques, crime prevention, ethics and integrity procedures, use of force, cultural awareness and a police K-9 demonstration.Applications must be submitted to the Hamden Police Department, 2900 Dixwell Avenue, Hamden, Connecticut 06518, no later than 4:00p.m. on March 21st. Applications can be obtained online on the Hamden Police Department web page or at police headquarters. Applications can be submitted in person, mailed or e-mailed to Captain Ronald Smith at rsmith@hamdenpd.com or Sergeant Brent Zuscin at bzuscin@hamdenpd.com. Classes will commence on March 24th at 6:30p.m. at the Hamden Police Department Training Division.
